Stepping stones is a training package which has been developed on HIV/AIDS, communication and relationship skills. This brief report examines what has been achieved in terms of training of facilitators in Zimbabwe and some of the lessons learnt regarding the selection of trainees, content of training and the use of Stepping Stones methodology by those recently trained and the need for follow up.

This guide is based on the experience of a a number of organisations who have adapted Stepping Stones either during an initial workshop or after using it in the field. The guide includes different types of adaptation that can be made, how to go about the process of adapting Stepping Stones and some practical issues to consider in doing so.

This paper traces the spread of participatory approaches in Samburu District, from its origins with the Samburu District Development Programme's small scale trial of a participatory approach in Baragoi, to its spread District-wide. The way in which the approach was scaled up is examined, including issues of collaboration with other development agencies, working with leaders and networking with other projects and organisations.

Note describing a method to explore the distinctions or differences that people see in the world around them. Tree maps can be used to deal with two common problems encountered when dealing with qualitative information. Firstly, how to make comparisons between complex entities and secondly, how to see an overall order but also recognise local diversity at the same time.
