Sustaining participation: what are the challenges? A review of the Uganda Participatory Development Network (UPDNet) annual meeting, 24-25th August 2000
The Uganda Participatory Development Network (UPDNet) is a loose network of organisations, institutions and individuals who are interested in promoting the use of participatory development techniques in Uganda. This article reviews a recent UPDNet workshop held in August 2000, where members met to discuss the issues and challenges of sustaining a participatory process. It provides a summary of the key issues and thoughts that emerged from the workshop, including best practice for sustaining participation, defining and understanding participation, and networking and forging alliances.
