Seeds of hope: a collection of case studies on community-based coastal resources management in the Philippines
This collection of case studies reflects on various community-based coastal resource management (CBCRM) initiatives in the regions of Mindanao, Visayas and Luzon. Degradation of the coastal resources in the region, initially led to traditional top-down responses from the state agencies with practically no community involvement. This technique was highly ineffective, as the state regulations (such as marine parks) were not respected by local fishers and community members.
