Farmer-centred extension education: The educational venue of pasture walks in Wisconsin USA and the role of the facilitator.
This article looks at pasture walks as a way of farmers discussing, learning and taking action about issues that concern them. It explains how this unstructured way of farmers coming together and walking their land allows them to observe, learn, and make decisions as well as building relationships with one another and enabling farmers groups to be more competitive. It discusses the role of the extension workers in this process, where leadership comes from the farmers themselves and the extension worker acts more as a facilitator.
