Understanding from children : a participatory approach.

Publication year:
1997

Flooding is a recurrent natural hazard in the charlands of Bangladesh. This document reports on a workshop aimed at gaining an understanding of the issues confronting the poorer families and especially children in these areas. The workshop was attended by representatives of five national NGOs working in charland areas and also seven school-going children aged between 12 and 16 years old, selected from poor families. The way in which the workshop was designed to facilitate the participation of the children is discussed and lessons learnt reflected on.
