Action Aid Nepal extended its working area to the far western region in 1996. This base line survey was conducted in two phases during 1996 following orientation workshops. Aims were stated as; assessing the socio-economic, cultural and geo-physical features of the five VDC's in Kanchanpur; identifying community needs for better design and implementation of programmes in the future, the status and potential of NGOs and CBO's in the Kanchanpur District as well as the potential of the area. It gives summary information of the results of social mapping, wellbeing ranking, the seasonal calendar, mobility map, disability educational information, land holding, bonded labour, occupation, children, immunisation, family planning and the local market.
