This report covers the objectives, activities and outcomes of a Participatory 3-D modelling Exercise at Pu Mat National Park, Vietnam, which sought to train participants from different Vietnamese and Philippine institutions.
Initial activities included an orientation on the method to be implemented, and two field visits were organised to allow the trainees to familiarise themselves with the land use and vegetation cover in the buffer zone of the park. The exercise itself was composed of five parts: assembling the blank model, transposing cognitive maps, transferring data from/to the 3-D model, data extraction, and data extraction using digital photography. Consideration is also given to group dynamics and costs involved in implementing the project, as well as trainees' comments the process and recommendations for improvement.
