This is a report of a three day RRA workshop sponsored by the International Dvelopment Research Centre (IDRC), Dakar. Itwas organised by the Technology Development and Planing Unit of Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. It brought together 30 practitioners and potential practitioners of RRA to share experiences, network and plan joint activities for the future The case studies presented revealed both the strengths and weaknesses of the RRA method when used by novice practitioners. Participants were however enthusiastic about the potential for RRAs contribution to technology research and development projects The report has a list of 30 participants from the West Africa sub region and a paper presented by Karen Schoonmaker Freudenberger on Rapid Rural Appraisal: Its potential and Limitations in Making Technology Research responsive to the Needs of the Poor.
