In 1996 ADB established a small pilot fund to promote innovative participatory approaches in its operations. This report provides a record and review of the experiences of the fund together with insights about how these types of pilot activities can assist organisations like ADB to incorporate new practices and policies into their operations. The report opens by looking at the funding of upstream participatory activities including chapters on implementation, performance and next steps. The remaining bulk of the text is given over to seven in depth case studies from Micronesia, China, Mekong Sub Region, Laos, Nepal, Pakistan and the Philippines.
