The first section deals with a variety of participative and non-participative mapping techniques, the second with cultural and communication issues, including perceptions of the environment and indigenous knowledge. The third section is devoted to PRA, linked to mapping but including agroecosystem analysis, PRA techniques and methodology. For each item reviewed, key issues and an annotation is given, as well as a star ranking to indicate the relevant of the article. Mapping annotations include a breakdown by participation, technology, purpose of analysis, analysis level and geographic area. All annotations are in English, although many of the texts are not.
