This article includes a detailed description of chapati diagramming and case study from India of how it was used by a women's credit and saving group to critically examine their own performance. Three seperate diagrams were made by the women, the first of which looked at performance in terms of participation by members in the building of the capital of the institution, the second at participation in the business of the institution and the third in its management.
Three months after the exercise was carried out the results appeared to be positive in that there was an increase in the regularity and amount of savings and overdue loan installments were recovered.
