Sensibilad en género con la evaluació rural participativa (ERP)

Esta edición de En Acción de la organización Vecinos Mundiales se concentra en la necesidad de la sensibilidad en género con la ERP (Evaluación Rural Participativa). Reconoce que ERP no es intrínsecamente sensible en género, y para que la ERP sea sensible en género, se necesitan hacer algunas consideraciones. El primer es que los facilitadores deben ser expuestos a las habilidades de análisis del género antes de comenzar un ERP.

Building organizational capacity for integrated reproductive health programs

In 1993, a collaboration was forged between the Center for Medical Guidance and Family Planning (CEMOPLAF) and World Neighbors-Ecuador (WN) to encourage the participation of indigenous populations to utilise reproductive health services provided by CEMOPLAF. The partnership was implemented through the sensitive integration of these services with agriculture and animal husbandry, which resulted in a dramatic uptake by local people.

The effects of Hurricane Mitch in 1998 and the subsequent 10 years' worth of rain which fell in five days brought environmental and agricultural devastation to Central America. World Neighbors (WN) had worked for many years on the promotion of soil and water conservation; the hurricane provided an opportunity for WN to study the effectiveness of this work in combating the disastrous effects of a potentially destructive climate and this newsletter gives details their work.
