Factors Contributing to Personal Attitudes and Behaviour Change

This paper includes a number of guidelines a trainer should bear in mind concerning attitudes and behaviour when doing PRA training. The paper stresses the need to carry out participatory work with appropriate behaviour and attitudes. Thus the trainer is expected to dwell more on human and group behaviours. The trainer is expected to be very observant and to reflect on human/group behaviour, including his/her own. In addition, the trainer is expected to ensure that he/she does not under- or -over facilitate.

Participatory Approaches to Soil and Water Conservation for Sustainable Smallholder Development

This statement, by the participants of a workshop held in 1991 in Kenya and Tanzania by the World Association of Soil and Water Conservation, says that centrally conceived programmes and technologies for soil and water conservation which are then transferred to the field have been the norm till recently and have led to disappointing results.
