Participatory approaches to development: some observations and lessons from development programs in Tanzania
This position paper has been written to provide participants of the seminar on ôparticipatory approaches to developmentö (organised by the People Participation/FAO Co-operative College and the Netherlands Embassy, in Tanzania 1994) with a background information on the state affairs with regard to this topic in Tanzania. The authors have attempted to give a brief overview and give a first analysis of experiences, based on their own work in Tanzania, literature studies, and questionnaires filled in by ten development organisations.
